Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

Use your own OpenRouter API key to pay for LLM tokens directly. GloriaMundo routes your AI model calls through your OpenRouter account with no markup on the LLM portion.

What BYOK does

When you provide your own OpenRouter key:

  • LLM token costs are billed to your OpenRouter account at OpenRouter's rates. GloriaMundo does not take a cut.
  • Service costs — sandboxing (E2B), integrations (Composio), image generation, web search, extraction, memory, and browsing — are still billed at standard 2× rates from your GloriaMundo credit pool.
  • The $20/month subscription still applies.

What is still billed from your credits

Every non-LLM service used during a workflow run:

Service Description
E2B Sandboxed Python execution
Composio Third-party integration actions
Image generation Imagen, FLUX, and other image models
Web search Tavily, Serper
Extraction Firecrawl, Tavily Extract
Memory Zep conversation memory
Browsing BrightData web browsing
Knowledge Graphlit document ingestion

These are services GloriaMundo pays for on your behalf, so the standard rate applies regardless of your BYOK status.

How to set it up

  1. Get an OpenRouter API key from openrouter.ai.
  2. In GloriaMundo, go to Settings and select OpenRouter Key.
  3. Paste your key into the input field.
  4. Click Test key to verify it works.
  5. Once validated, click Save.

Your key is encrypted at rest and never logged or exposed in error reports.

What happens if the key fails

If your OpenRouter key is rejected during a workflow run (expired, revoked, or over quota), the run stops with a clear error message:

Your OpenRouter key was rejected. Please check your key in Settings, or remove it to fall back to platform credits.

There is no silent fallback to platform credits. You will always know which account is paying for LLM tokens.

Removing your key

Go to Settings > OpenRouter Key and click Remove key. Future LLM calls will use platform credits at standard rates.

Cost display

The Virtual Run cost breakdown shows both LLM and service costs. When BYOK is active:

  • LLM costs are prefixed with ~ to indicate they are an estimate of what your OpenRouter account was charged (based on OpenRouter's reported pricing).
  • Service costs show the amount debited from your GloriaMundo credits.

Supported providers

BYOK currently supports OpenRouter only. OpenRouter gives you access to models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Meta, Mistral, and others through a single key.
